All Scripture quotations are from the 1901 American Standard Version unless otherwise noted. Introduction 1 Corinthians 12-14 is the most lengthy and detailed passage in the Bible regarding the gifts of the Spirit. Properly understood, it’s a major key to settling the gifts issue. We must keep in mind that this was a transitional period of time, […]
All Scripture quotations are from the 1901 American Standard Version unless otherwise noted. Note: That God still works miracles today is not the issue. Of course He does. The subject of this study pertains to the gifts, specifically to all the miracle gifts and those who use them. Spiritual gifts passages: Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12-14; Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Peter […]
Preface: Before we really get started here, I want to make the following general statement regarding my position on the gifts of the Spirit: I’m what I would refer to as a conditional continuationist. While I believe the miracle gifts are operational today, I don’t believe it’s normative for countries or places where Christianity and Bibles flourish—such as we […]
All Scripture quotations are from the 1901 American Standard Version (updated) unless otherwise noted. Introduction Like Romans 9, Romans 11 is one of the most important chapters in the New Testament regarding the doctrine of election, Israel and the Church. All Scripture quotations are from the 1901 American Standard Version (slightly updated) unless otherwise noted. Introduction Romans 9 is one of the central passages of the New Testament in understanding the doctrine of election. It’s a science or a means by which we interpret the Bible (hermeneutic) and put it all together where the pieces are in harmony […]
I want to give you a brief example of how God’s promises to Israel are fulfilled in the New Covenant. The promises to ethnic Israel were always looking ahead to Christ and His Church. The Promised Land of the OT was only a type and shadow of the Promised Land of the New Heaven and New […]
Why So Much Talk About Unconditional Sovereign Election? Many years ago in the early stages of my walk with Christ, I read of a visiting speaker to a class of seminary students, who asked them this question: “What is our purpose in life (as Christians)?” Not one student out of that class could answer the question […]
The Total Sovereignty of God in Salvation The Pride and Boastfulness of the Human Heart Christians who believe that the Bible teaches free-will (or freed will), personal-ability salvation (Arminians/provisionists), believe that every person who comes into the world has the capacity to choose to receive Christ as their Savior upon hearing the gospel message. They believe that our salvation […]
The longer I live and the more I learn, the more I realize how one-sided the grace of God really is. I think most Christians would agree that the grace of God is one-sided, that God does as He pleases for His own purposes and glory. However, when it comes to our salvation, many […]
